Through past decade the Ginsu knife is still in the market, the reason is the amazing sales technique to promote it.

The Ginsu Knives debut commercial in 1978 (That was the year I was born). In 2009 Ginsu Knives is in the list of How Stuff Works "Top 10 Most Popular Infomercials" Ginsu Knives are in top 10, followed by Jack LaLanne Power Juicer at # 09. The knife became popular with millions of TV viewers in the USA through abundant TV advertisements in the 1970's. The ads boost sales between two (2) and three (3) million Ginsu knife sets between 1978 and 1984.

Ed Valenti and Barry Becher repeated the advertising formulae with other products such as: Miracle Slicer, Royal Durasteel etc.... "Ginsu has everything a great direct-response commercial could have," said by John Witek, author of Response TV: Combat Advertisement of the 1980's and a marketing consultant.

Cultural Impact

In American popular culture, "the amazing Ginsu knife" remains an icon of hard sell" marketing. In April 2009, (this is the year were HSW featured this knife in Top 10 Infomercial Products) a stretch of road in Warwick, Rhode Island which passes the office of Ed Valenti was named Ginsu Way.
